Maa Bagalamukhi is worshipped as the eight Goddess of the Das Mahavidyas in Hinduism. Also, the Goddess is popularly known as Maa Pitambari among the devotees specifically being associated with the color golden/yellow. The words ‘Bagala’ and ‘Mukhi’ find its roots in Sanskrit; Bagala means the bridle which is used to control a horse, whereas Mukhi means the mouth. Thus, the name symbolizes the power and control of the Goddess over adversaries. It is believed that invoking the blessings of the Goddess shields devotees against evil forces and helps them to win over enemies.
